Christopher Rees (“Chris”) has over 25 years of experience in International Banking having held several senior operational and executive positions across US and European Financial Institutions, most recently as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the executive management of Nordea Bank Abp. In addition, Chris served as Non-Executive Director for Greenergy, one of the largest producers and distributors of waste derived renewable transportation fuels.

As CFO of Nordea Chris was member of the Board Audit Committee, Chair of the Group Asset and Liability Committee (“ALCO”) responsible for the capital allocation and liquidity management for a EUR 600bn balance sheet. During his tenure as CFO at Nordea, Chris re-domiciled the bank to the European Banking Union and created a new group strategy and 3-year financial targets, capital and dividend policies. Prior to becoming CFO Chris was the Deputy Head of the Wholesale Bank with 4000+ staff and over EUR 2bn revenue with operational responsibility for the Markets business. Chris joined Nordea as COO of the Wholesale Bank responsible for ~2000 staff across IT, Operations, HR, Strategy and Planning and Financial Risk and Control. Before moving to Nordea Chris spent 8 years at Barclays Plc latterly serving as co-head of the European Debt Capital Markets and Risk Solutions business and held various positions for Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch. Since 2020, Chris is involved in philantropic work for Seerave Foundation and Managing Director of their VC arm in addition to being advisor to a select group of companies.

Chris holds a Masters Degree from London School of Economics and is a dual Swedish and British national.
